As part of the activities to strengthen local capacities in working communities, the AMBIO Cooperative, together with state´s and federal government entities, conducted a Basic Workshop for Fire Fighters from El Ocote Jungle Biosphere Reserve.
The purpose of the course was to strengthen capacities to deal with forest fires. It was aimed for community brigades, conformed of 14 people, to prepare them with information of the incident command system, which is coordinated between the National Commission for Protected Natural Areas of Ocote (CONANP-REBISO), the National Forest Commission (CONAFOR) , the Ministry of the Environment and Natural History (SEMAHN), Civil Protection and AMBIO.
The objective was to provide training to the community forest fire brigades and technical personnel with basic knowledge and skills for forest fires protection in the Reserve. A total of 22 people participated, including staff and brigadistas from the Ejido San Juan, Ejido Llano Grande, Ejido San Joaquín Rosario, Ejido San Joaquín el Progreso, Ejido Florida, CONAFOR, CONANP REBISO, AMBIO, Civil Protection and Firefighters from the Municipality of Ocozocoautla.
