As part of the Project's capacity building work of the Maintenance and Increase of Carbon Stores in agroforestry systems in rural communities of the Selva Zoque Complex - Sumidero Canyon, as a Strategy for Climate Change Mitigation Chiapas, Mexico,a course on "Methodologies for the management and breeding of queen bees" was held in the community of Libertad Campesina
The community of Libertad Campesina (municipality of Osumacinta) has been working with apiaries and has a demonstration plot, which allows the exchange of knowledge and this type of courses. The apiary of Libertad Campesina is conformed with 9 breeders, who have advanced in the knowledge of handling bees.
This course is of great importance for the breeders, since it allows them to increase the number of hives (knowing how to handle queen bees) and increase the apiary they count on. The participants look in this activity, a profitable and sustainable alternative that allows them to align with the conservation objectives of the National Park Sumidero Canyon, place where the community Libertad Campesina is located.
