As part of the actions that the AMBIO Cooperative develops for the participation of rural women in productive activities, a group of women that are artisans and beekeepers of the community of Libertad Campesina (Municipality of Osumacinta) participated in the “Mercadito las Tuxtlecas”, a fair trade initiative to encourage the economy of women producers in the region.
This event was organized and promoted by the Municipal Secretariat for Gender Equality, with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Chiapas, during the second Saturday of February. In this edition, the theme was the environment and was promoted under the slogan "I love Tuxtla".
The group of women from the ejido Libertad Campesina joined this activity, as part of the activities that AMBIO develops to strengthen capacities and gender perspective, through the CI-GEF-AMBIO Project of Mitigation of Climate Change in Chiapas. The venue was the Calzada de los Hombres Ilustres, in the city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
In this fair trade event, 160 women producers, artisans, designers and cooks from the capital of Chiapas participated, as well as from neighboring communities. Local artists were also present, and they volunteered to promote the event.
