Representation of Plan Vivo in Mexico and Latin America.
This year, AMBIO and the Plan Vivo Foundation have signed an Agreement of Understanding, in which AMBIO was appointed as the Regional Ambassador of Plan Vivo for Latin America. The Plan Vivo Standard is the longest running standard in the international Voluntary Carbon Market.
This representation seeks, among other things, to scale up in the Latin American region. The foregoing, aligned to the social and environmental Plan Vivo Principles, naturally focusing on communities. The current need for scaling up the Voluntary Carbon Market at an international level is undoubtedly something positive for the communities, however, it is necessary that this growth occurs without losing sight of the main actors, the communities, as well as their role in a market with high-quality carbon credits with large benefits to the participants.
In this sense, AMBIO has an extensive experience in the development and implementation of community-based projects and initiatives, as well as national and international recognition in these topics. Therefore, under the role of Ambassador, AMBIO will represent Plan Vivo in spaces for analysis, discussions with public policy makers, and decision makers.
We hope that this agreement will not only be a voice from Plan Vivo, but also a space for communication and feedback to the Standard, and that this helps to continue building alternatives to mitigate climate change.
