The AMBIO Cooperative participated in the Week of Knowledge Exchange of Conservation (SICC 2019), organized by the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN), in Mexico City. The objective was to share knowledge among the FMCN partners, as well as the experiences of the organizations that carry out fire management activities in natural areas, as well as to present the challenges that they face in terms of conservation.
AMBIO shared its fire management experience with a gender perspective, which it´s develops in the Selva El Ocote Biosphere Reserve. This activity is carried out with the participation of young people, women and children, highlighting the interest of this population group in the topic of fire management.
During the 2 and a half days of the SICC 2019, issues that contribute to capacity building, communication, management and development of the partner organizations, as well as the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (CONANP) were addressed. Cases, solutions and success stories were presented highlighting personal or group leadership. This edition highlights the importance of spaces for sharing experiences, generating alliances, visions and indispensable actions on a relevant topics, such as fire management.
