The Program to Strengthen the Regional Strategy for Fire Management with Inclusion of the Gender Perspective (in the El Ocote Forest Biosphere Reserve), carried out by the AMBIO Cooperative, organized the "Forest Fire Prevention Week".
The objective was to give information for self-protection in the case of forest fires to public, especially minors. Likewise, learning how to act in case of emergencies was promoted, as well as a new culture of forest fire prevention within the El Ocote Forest Biosphere Reserve.
Ten communities from Biosphere Reserve participated: Emilio Rabasa, Veinte Casas, San Joaquín el Progreso, Nuevo San Juan Chamula, Nicolás Bravo, Llano Grande, Horizonte, La Florida, San Joaquín el Rosario, New Jerusalen, in addition to the participation of elementary students, teachers and parents.
The activities that organized in coordination with technical personnel of environmental culture of the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas-Jungle Reserve El Ocote (CONANP-REBISO) and AMBIO technicians. Support material, such as the video projection "El Puente"; dynamics like "Do not burn", The good and the bad of fire", " Find in the Jungle" and a forest lottery were used.
