Welcome to AMBIO

Deforestation and forest degradation are the second most important sources of CO2 emissions globally and they represent 17.4% of the total Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) emitted worldwide.
One of the most adequate mitigation systems for emissions reduction is carbon offsetting through forestry. In addition due to the photosynthesis process, forestation is known as being the only mitigation process that directly uptake global atmospheric carbon.
AMBIO helps mitigating climate change through Afforestation, Agroforestry, Forestry Restoration, and Avoided Emissions from Deforestation (REDD). We work with small and medium-scale community farmers who are the main actors in the programme: being owners of the trees and land, they decide which activities they wish to develop on their land while receiving technical advices from AMBIO. Founded in 1997, AMBIO offers the opportunity for companies and individuals to offset their carbon footprint in order to participate in environmental protection while contributing in enhancing rural community’s livelihoods.
