State Congress Forest Management and Rural Development in the tackle of Climate Change.

After two years of suspension due to the pandemic, this year the on site celebration of the “6th State Congress on Forest Management and Rural Development to tackle Climate Change”, which will take place on August 11th and 12th at the facilities of the University Theater of the University of Sciences and Arts of Chiapas (UNICACH), in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas.

The objective of this session is to promote and manage, due to its strategic importance for Chiapas and the country, the restoration and management of forest ecosystems in the Grijalva River basin as a State Policy. With the foregoing, it seeks to contribute to the mitigation and adaptation to the effects of Climate Change, as well as contribute to social welfare.

The AMBIO Cooperative is part of the organizing committee of the event and it is in charge of coordinating the roundtable for the "Recognition of Environmental Services, Carbon Markets and Trends", where the following organizations will participate: Forest Trends, the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), the Mexican Network of Forest Peasant Organizations, A.C. (RedMocaf), Cecropia Local Solutions to Global Challenges A.C, the Ejido Monte Sinaí and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Congress will have the participation of social actors, academic institutions (state and national), government institutions and municipalities. With the round table organized by AMBIO, by the diversity of the participating actors, the implications, limitations and opportunities of the different forest carbon markets, from different contexts, will be analyzed.
