In order to facilitate the elaboration of the Investment Plans for the regions of Chiapas los Bosques, Altos Tsotsil-Tseltal, Meseta Comiteca-Tojolabal, the Alliance for Sustainability and Low Emissions Development was formed. It is integrated by the organizations Cecropia Local Solutions to Global Challenges AC, Biomasa AC, Forum for Sustainable Development AC and Ambio Cooperative.
This Alliance is part of the National Climate Change Strategy, based on the National REDD + Strategy, which proposes the design and operation of plans, programs and policies aimed at reducing deforestation and degradation of forests and jungles (SEMARNAT, 2013).
Within its strategic lines, ENAREDD + promotes mitigation and adaptation actions to climate change, through integrated land management, to promote sustainable low-carbon rural development, with respect to social and environmental safeguards (CICC, 2017).
The Alliance for Sustainability and Low Emission Development is supported by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Secretary of Environment and Natural History (SEMAHN) of the State of Chiapas and the Working Group of Governors for Climate and Forests (GCF , for its acronym in English).
The Government of the State of Chiapas, with the participation of relevant actors, will propose a State Investment Plan, in order to have a guiding instrument for financing strategies and sources to address the direct causes of deforestation and degradation of the forests in the entity.
