Equipment donation for coffee producers.
As part of the closing activities of the consultancy "Strengthening of Capacities for the Development and Appropriation of Reforestation Actions in Coffee-Producing Localities in Chiapas, Mexico", developed in collaboration with the Rainforest Alliance and OLAM Mexico, pruning equipment was donated to ejidos and coffee producing communities.
This donation took place in the ejido La Ramona, the town of San Ildefonso and the Ranchería Argentina, in the municipality of Villa Corzo, as well as in the ejido Tierra y Libertad, in the municipality of Villaflores, in Chiapas. The consultancy contemplated a series of trainings developed by AMBIO, derived from local diagnoses for the evaluation of reforestation actions carried out by the producers, with the support of OLAM Mexico.
A complete kit of professional pruning equipment (telescopic handle up to 3.9 m., shears with an anvil for telescopic handle and curved saw for telescopic handle) was donated to each community that took part in the training “Management of Training and Sanitation Pruning, and Management of the Meliaceae Screwworm (cedar and mahogany)”, which was taught with the aim to improve the early management of the trees, for a better development and use in the future, as well as for the regulation of the low shade of their coffee plantations trees.
