This participation occurs through the use of their agricultural lands for consumption and commercialization, which makes it necessary to present sustainable alternatives for the maintenance and use of natural resources within the communities.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The use of agroforestry systems allows this combination of interests that favor connecting forest landscapes, recovering fertility, conserving, and enriching soil, generating other incomes, in addition to contributing to food security.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Taungya agroforestry system is an intervention model for the establishment of food crops during the first years of tree growth, allowing additional incomes to be generated, while the trees receive the benefit of the maintenance activities. In the medium and long term, the shade of the trees can be used for other crops of interest to the participants, such as: coffee, cocoa, palms, among others<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>In an intervention of the Scolel'te Program under the community approach, the \"La Azteca\" community located in Cacahoat\u00e1n, Chiapas (Mexico), has been working with the Taunya agroforestry system for the Scolel'te Program.
