Producers and the challenges faced by climate change.

Producers and the challenges faced by climate change.

There is no doubt that the effects of climate change are becoming increasingly present in both urban and rural environments, the latter being the most vulnerable. At the last annual meeting of the Scolel'te program, producers from different regions of the state of Chiapas commented on the way that climate change affects their activities.

They all agree on the change in rainy periods, the increase in drought, the presence of pests in species that were not seen before, a greater difficulty in establishing plants, among others. Added to this problem are others of a social nature such as organization, migration and insecurity. Together, producers, ejidos and communities seek alternatives to these challenges, with the sole purpose of improving their social, environmental and economic environment.
