Participation in the third edition of the Mexico Carbon Forum, Querétaro, Querétaro.
The event was held at the Congress Center of the City of Querétaro from August 14 to the 15, 2023. The Carbon Forum had the participation of different actors, generating a space for updated information, experiences and exchange of ideas and opinions in reference to the voluntary carbon market.
Ambio's participation was on behalf of Plan Vivo as part of the standard's embassy for Mexico and Latin America, with two panels. The first was on August 14, where the debate took place on whether or not carbon markets should meet social demands. For Plan Vivo, one of its principles is to strengthen the organization and knowledge of local communities.
The second panel was held on August 15 and it was related to the integration of communities and their participation in nature based solutions, in which the need for communities to have information and transparent processes for a fair participation was highlighted, as well as in environmental markets the importance of motivating the participation of women and youth is key, since in most cases they are marginalized and have the least benefits from environmental market strategies, these are aspects that cannot be omitted, but on the contrary, they should be placed on the table for the screening and incorporation.
