As part of the growth of the Scolel'te program in territory of action and in the construction of alliances, this time for seven days, the technical team of the Cooperativa AMBIO with the participation of colleagues from the organizations FORO (Foro for Sustainable Development AC) and BIOMASA (Biodiversity, Environment, Soil and Water AC) visited four communities in the municipality of Cintalapa, Chiapas, to present the Scolel'te program and invite them to join.
Producers in three of the communities were interested in participating in the program and prepared their “Planes Vivos” (Living Plans) with the support of AMBIO technical staff. The Living Plans were prepared under the homonymous methodology “Plan Vivo”, which takes into account the characteristics of each community and is based on what each producer is looking for in his/her land. The activity was carried out so that producers can participate in the Scolel'te carbon program and, at the same time, so that they can improve the productivity of their land by diversifying with trees for different purposes.
The elaboration of 42 Living Plans was achieved with 40 producers, summing an approximate area of 95 hectares. The proposals revolved around the establishment of three types of agroforestry systems: Live fences, Taungya and Improved fallows of tropical climate, planting at least five tree species: Cedrela odorata, Cordia alliodora, Tapirira mexicana, Tabebuia donnell-smithii, Tabebuia Rosea.
