A company or an individual’s carbon footprint can assessed by quantifying their main sources of energy consumption, such as transport or electricity. This carbon footprint can be offset via the purchase of carbon bonds, which are used to fund AMBIO’s reforestation projects.
The Scolel'te program is certified by the internationally acclaimed Plan Vivo Standard. Through Plan Vivo, the provision of ecosystem services is ensured through monitoring, reporting, and validation activities. Simultaneously, best-in-class practices are applied for the delivery of payments and co-benefits for participating communities.
"Before, I used to grow corn and beans, but the land stopped growing, and the price of corn is very low and it does not work anymore. When the Scolel'te program arrived in my community, I entered it, and then I began to plant the trees ... "
Mr. Pascual Pérez, Ejido la Tronconada, Municipio de Salto de Agua, Chiapas
Scolel'te the tree that grows, is the first project of carbon bonds in the world, sponsored by Cooperativa AMBIO. We are the only project in Mexico that has the certification of the Plan Vivo Foundation and the verification of the Rainforest Alliance. We started in 1994 and are the starting point and reference point for the other carbon projects on the planet.
