Exchange of Experiences in Agroforestry Systems between CASFA and Ambio.

On November 21 and 22, in the vicinity of the municipality of Tapachula, the Exchange of Experiences in Agroforestry Systems (SAF) was carried out between associated producers of the San Francisco de Asís Agroecology Center (CASFA), and producers from the basin of the Pijijiapan River, participants in the proposal “Local governance and sustainable management of the upper basin of the Pijijiapan River” developed by AMBIO, which is supported by the Mexican Fund for Nature Conservation (FMCN), and the Conservation Fund from El Triunfo (FONCET).

The event consisted of learning about coffee, cocoa, timber, fruit, aromatic and other plots of producers associated with CASFA who have extensive experience in managing this type of production systems. During the event, producers shared knowledge and lessons learned so that producers who are starting these processes can replicate and adapt these models and reduce their learning curve.

With these types of events, local capacities for sustainable production are reinforced, the installation of new agroforestry systems is promoted, which, in turn, contribute to the restoration of landscapes and the mitigation of climate change.
